Well...time just keeps going and
going. Sooner than later I will be at my half way mark. Crazy. This week went
by a little slower than usual. I think it is because we are no longer a trio
and we gave some of our Amis to the
new sisters in our area....sigh. Not being in a trio has really restricted work
with our Amis. It’s been extremely
frustrating but we are working it out. This week we had a fun ward activity. I
am really growing to love this little branch. I am turning into a regular part
of the Sunday program (aka pianist) and just loving the opportunity to serve!
The members here are so loving but they are so exhausted due to all that is on
them (multiple callings, work, family life, kids, life stresses). Each Sunday,
I get more and more attached. Oh, my little Chambéry branch!! There were 49
people at church (THATS A LOT, FYI)! We had about 6 less actives there. I love
working with less actives soooo much!! I think it might be my forte :) At the
Branch party we had lunch together and shared talents! We did a skit and they
loved it!! The whole crowed was laughing! It’s so fun to have experiences with
the people other than teaching and such!
So this week we had a miracle. We
were sitting at the church waiting for our Amis
to come and they didn’t show up. My comp was sooo upset! She prayed that
God would send someone to the church so we could have someone to teach. About 5 minutes later, there was a knock at
the front door. A young adult, Yorrick, from New Caledonia asked: "Is this
a church? Could I maybe learn more?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! We immediately
ushered him in sat him down and taught him the first lecon. He then came to the Branch Party, English Class, Church, and
the Christmas 1st Presidency Devotional. Best progressing ami EVER!! He is awesome. After church he hung around for about and
found the pamphlets...the word of wisdom pamphlets....BUT he was super open and
completely understood that it’s not good for our bodies and spirits to have dependency
on substances. #GOLDEN He truly is a miracle. I have been praying for a good
progressing ami, I am so grateful.
So once we again received another equipe of missionaries in Chambéry!
Soeur Witt and Soeur De Oliviera. They are the greatest! I love them soooo
much! We all get along great and they add a great spirit in the apartment!
Overall, I am excited for this transfer. We watched the First Presidency
Christmas Devotional together. The last song in the Devo I couldn’t help but
start to cry because, 1) I was singing in English (weird I know) and 2) I
really realized I wasn’t going to be home for Christmas. Please know that I am
really OK with it...for the most part! I am so excited to spend Christmas in
the service of the Lord! We got invited over to our Branch President’s house
for Christmas Eve (and their 5 kids...boo ya). It will be loads of fun and it
was soooo nice of them!! We decorated our apartment and are really in the
Christmas spirit!! Every pensée
spirituelle (...spiritual thought) we share is from Luc....Yay la naissance du Christ!!
Well sorry there isn’t much else to report this week. I will
hopefully give you full details of Skyping next week. Keep praying!!
Challenge of the
week: Share the scriptures of Jesus’s birth with a friend! My personal
favorite part of that story is Luc 2:8-20
its about the Shepherds. What a privilege to spread the word that HE HAS
COME!!
I love you all! Can’t wait to Skype.......squeal!!
XOXO
Soeur Richardson
