"Why aren't you married already"

I just got a text from a friend that read, “Why aren’t you married already?”. Yes. I am very aware that I am surpassing the “norm” of BYU by not being married/engaged at 21. But seriously….who deemed all 21+ year olds to be old maids?? I personally believe that 21 is young and I will have plenty of time to still search for the guy crazy enough to marry me and all my craziness (….knock on wood). I am headed out on a mission for my Church in 5 DAYS. Woot Woot. I am SO excited! But some of my friends thought I was CRAZY, which kinda scared me. Was I really deeming myself to be an old maid….the neighborhood dog lady…..the bored cookie baking lady!!!  Oh no no no. As you can imagine…I had no idea what to text back. Cause seriously….WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT?? I couldn’t help but chuckle at myself cause there is always that person who brings that subject up. And yes…..4 of my 5 best friends have gotten engaged/married since November. Do I have every right to feel a little lonely and left out….well ya maybe….but why waste the time?! I am convinced that in life everything has a time. And if its not your time, well, you are just going to have to wait a while. I have come to terms with the fact that it is just not my time. I have other things I need to be doing and if I give 100% of myself to it…the rewards will far surpass the pain of waiting.
So….
In other news I could just not be married because I am currently playing my old Gameboy SP, eating easter candy and chips, tucked in my bed. Hahahahaha…..some call it antisocial, I call it comfy, fat, and happy. So yes, my name is Lauren Elisabeth Richardson, I am 21, single, nerdy, weird, comfy, happy, and well fed. I am also ready for my new adventure. While it might not be “marriage time” for me, it is time for me to serve the people of France. And I could not be more excited and happy. 5 days people! YAAAAAAAYY

A few new things I learned this week:
1.     The Les Miserable soundtrack can make you cry almost just as hard as the movie. Or maybe that's just me………*awkward*
2.     How to properly fold a pair of pants….It’s really fancy. I feel very legit.
3.     If you listen to too much Taylor Swift you start to feel like you’re in Jr High again. (Ohhh the DRAMA)
4.     "Remember Me" is by far the best chick flick ever made. It is the PERFECT balance of romance and comedy.
5.     I am horrible at any video game where the main point is to kill. (Halo, Super Smash Bro., Call of Duty) I try and try….I just have to come to terms with it. I will forever be horrible. Sigh

I am really going to miss blogging. C’est la vie.

17 Things To Do In 17 Days

-->
I leave for my mission to France in 17 days. As you can imagine after a 5 month wait….I am PUMPED! While I was preparing and even packing….gulp…..I made a list of 17 things I would like to do before I leave, with 17 days to do them.

1.     Watch Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, and finish with Beauty and the Beast. (She is French)
2.     Make French Hot Chocolate and drink while listening to the Michael Buble Christmas CD (my all time favorite CD)
3.     Eat at BDubs (Buffalo Wild Wings)
4.     Get a pedicure
5.     Get Mission pics….haha I guess I put it off a little….should probably get that done
6.     Create Picture album of Family and Friends to take to France (If you have any fun ones…send them my way!)
7.     Get a Doritos Loco’s Taco….or maybe get like 6. I had fast food Mexican for the 1st time in 4 years last week. It was DIVINE.
8.     Watch the latest episode of Dance Moms. Yes…I know. I should not have admitted that I watch that show. But it’s EXTREMELY entertaining.
9.     Play the matching memory game with my niece.
10. Do a cartwheel. I have had a broken collarbone for the past….FOREVER. I just got my sling off and I really have had the urge to do one. I should probably wait a few more days until it’s completely healed….
11. Finish packing. It is really hard packing for 18 months. Woof.
12. Rent a puppy. I love love love puppies. I have got to do it before I leave!
13. Hold my baby nephew. He is so cute.
14. Eat an entire bag of tootsie rolls.
15. Watch the LOTR series. Nerd for life!!
16. Buy fresh flowers for my bedroom
17. Go to a Men’s Volleyball game

While this 5 month wait has been…well….painful. (Literally painful) [1 MRI, 7 xrays, a billion visits to the doctor, broken collarbone, dislocated knee cap, strep throat, a cold, and bone bruising,] It’s been an adventure. It’s been really hard to keep a good attitude about things but life goes on! I am so ready and excited to start this new adventure in France! 17 days! 17 days!!  17 days!!!

Zombie

My body is falling apart. I am really fitting in with the whole zombie trend craze. It seems like every time my family gets together….no matter where we are, we begin to strategize if there happens to be a zombie attack. I would give you the breakdown on our master plans…but that is CRI (Classified Richardson Information).  My body is slowly deteriorating….which is not a good thing considering I am leaving on a mission in 24 days. Here is where the damage all began: Go up to Idaho…and get a cold. Can’t say I am surprised considering EVERY time I go up there I get sick. I think I am allergic to the state. Which….no offense Idaho-ians….I am not to sad about. While I am sick I break my collarbone. Come back to Utah….get even more sick. Lets just say what went down, came back up. Then a few days later I get even even more sick!! (Strep throat!) And two days ago I got an MRI on my knee. I don’t think my knee is anything serious….but it sure would be nice for it to stop hurting. Needless to say I am not going down without a fight I have waited 5 months to leave for my mission and I only have 24 days left of this long….long….long wait.

On an even more depressing note I found out my favorite NBA teams mascot is a Bison. Yes, a Bison.

Meet Rumble.

Not only do I hate his name because it reminds me of a when your tummy is “rumbling”, which is a VERY unpleasant feeling, but it’s a freaking Bison!! Boo. Boo to the worst mascot ever. Regardless. I still love me some OKC Thunder.

I am really craving Thai. No surprise there.
Despite all the injuries I have a lot to smile about. Life is good!
